Rilis VectorLinux 7.0 Beta 1
Robert Lange mengumumkan rilis beta pertama VectorLinux 7.0 telah siap untuk dites:
The VectorLinux development crew is proud to announce that after a long alpha testing phase we are ready to begin the beta testing cycle of VectorLinux 7.0. This release is a major update from VectorLinux 6 so please adjust your package update sources in gslapt to use VectorLinux 7 or a lot of breakages will occur. That being said here is a quick run-down: the Linux kernel is version 2.6.37, glibc is 2.12.2 and everything else is up to date with Slackware ‘Current’. We have the new Xfce 4.8 with 4.8.1 patches in place along with Cairo-Dock, the latest AbiWord, Gnumeric, Scribus, Inkscape, Shotwell and a vast array of other programs in all categories at their latest stable versions. We have tried to squash the major bugs that occurred during the alpha cycle so we hope it’s perfect this time.

Warren reported on the progress of 11.0: ‘First, I’d like to congratulate the Debian team on the release of Debian ‘Squeeze’ a few days ago. This MEPIS beta is primarily based on the Debian ‘Squeeze’ final but with a 2.6.36.2 kernel, KDE 4.5.1, and Firefox 4.0b10.’ Woodford continued: “After the release of the first beta, it became apparent that there were lingering issues related to booting the CD to a graphical login. Thanks to the investigations and recommendations of the MEPIS testers, we believe we have fixed these problems in beta 2.’
